Philanthropy
The Miss Virginia Tech Pageant is an annual event which started in 2005. It is held as a philanthropic event to benefit our charity, Zete Kidz, which helps underprivileged children all across the United States. The intent of the Miss Virginia Tech Pageant is to find the most well rounded, well spoken, and confident woman to serve as a role model for all women in the Virginia Tech community. In its first year, the Miss Virginia Tech pageant had nine beautiful ladies as competitors. These ladies competed in three rounds; a talent round, evening gown round, and a single-question interview. Sonya Milstead, a freshman management major, took the 1st Miss VT crown with Christy Campbell and Angie Arbia as the two runner-ups. Along awarding these three ladies, the Zeta Psi brothers instituted a 2nd competition called "Miss Popularity". This competition was based on a point system where purchasing tickets, and donating money accumulated points. Sigma Kappa's Ashley Johnston earned this honor in 2005. Last year's event featured Xavier Adibi, Brenden Hill and Coleman Collins as guest judges, SGA President Sumeet Bagai delivering an opening speech and stand-up comedian Anthony Quinn as emcee. The event was a lot of fun and raised over $1000 for Zete Kidz. We'd like to thank all of our sponsors and participants for 2005 and hope you will join us for 2006.
Miss Virginia Tech 2006 will be held in the Fall and will be bigger and better than last year. For questions or comments please contact Pat Kepp at pkepp87@vt.edu
